Presidential Innovation Student Awardees

  • Izzy Berry (Junior, Chemistry); to support the purchase of equipment and supplies for her research on finding a greener method for a common organic chemistry reaction. This research is being directed by Professor Jalisa Ferguson.

  • Madeline Ketner (Junior, Animal Studies); to support research on the visual acuity of foot-flagging frogs. This research is being directed by Professor Lauren Highfill and Dr. Preininger from Zoo Vienna.

  • Marina Lourenco (Sophomore, Environmental Studies and Animal Studies) and Dylan Davidoff (Junior, Marine Science and Animal Studies); to support a collaborative research project on horseshoe crab behavior and how understanding it can inform conservation practices in St Petersburg. This is an interdisciplinary project overseen by Professors Erin Frick (Animal Studies) and Eron Higgins (Marine Science).

  • Andrew Wynn (Junior, Communication); to support, under the guidance of Professor Julia Hildebrand, an ethnographic study of mobility via the automobile in St. Petersburg through the lenses of media ecology, mobilities research, and urban communication. For this research, Andrew will be collaborating with Car-Free St. Pete.
