Peace Corps Prep Program

Interested in post-graduate experience or a career in international development?

Eckerd College is one of a few schools in Florida to join the nationally recognized Peace Corps Prep undergraduate certificate program.

The Eckerd Peace Corps Prep program combines targeted coursework with service-oriented field work and professional development training designed to make participants more competitive when applying for postgraduate Peace Corps volunteer positions, Fulbright U.S. Scholarships and other international development and intercultural fieldwork opportunities.

Ford Scholar Program

Each year up to twenty rising juniors are given the opportunity to participate in a two year course of study designed to prepare them for graduate school and to pursue a career in college or university teaching.

Faculty select and sponsor the participants on the basis of academic achievement, intellectual promise, and a willingness to explore college teaching as career.

The Ford Scholar Program involves special coursework, summer research in collaboration with a faculty sponsor, a major project during the senior year, and supervised teaching experience.

Eastman Scholars

Students chosen to become Eastman Leaders—such as our first cohort of 2020—are inquisitive, driven and eager to learn. The program is open to sophomores who will participate in the program their junior and senior years. Eastman Leaders are awarded $7,500 to enable participation in the most essential high-impact practices of a liberal arts and sciences experience such as study abroad, service-learning and internships.

Faculty mentors guide Leaders to identify and develop their purpose through a curated set of hands-on learning opportunities.
